more pictures from playing with sound + raw data

each of these come from a sweep of modern talking, except the smooth curve at the bottom of the last pic. that’s just a low pass filter sweep on a saw wave.

so apparently I can make videos faster than I realize they aren’t funny

may as well post it somewhere. all maybe-30 minutes of “effort”.

of course, this process works in reverse too. in this case I used the deep throat oscilator from massive, scribbled on top of the resulting image, and then loaded it back as a wav

and holy hell does it sound awesome

(oneshot sound first, then application to bassline. album art is the bass sample)

Wow, what did it start off like?

just a regular, good ol fashioned sweep through massive’s deep throat oscilator, plus some bass.

here’s the sound for comparison

Wait, are you creating images with waveforms?

yes.

doing a bit of a study with raw data. I thought that a constant tone might produce visible patterns if loaded as raw bitmap data.
it kinda does.
the overtones are more interesting, producing splotches and such.
this above picture is one sweep of modern talking. it’s kinda sideways but you get the idea.

databending + FFT effects.
neat.

I thought that PMV you made was a pretty legit venture into video editing.

not really, since that was 100% animated in Flash.

…vs. the Daft Punk mashup which was made from several different (existing) videos, edited together.

scibot9000:

Daft Punk & sci & the world - we can do this ONE MORE TIME

so I decided that I’d mash up a ton of covers of “One More Time”
but that didn’t turn out so well so I thought I’d make a video to distract you from the sound
but that didn’t turn out so well because I’ve never made a video before so..

my first foray into video editing.

not much else to say about this. I’m just glad I got it out of my system >_<

added a list of sources, reblogging at a decent hour

so I guess I made a video

first legit video editing venture

for a stupid reason

I don’t know what to think any more, really.

whatever, rending away ~
